The U.S. Air Force has selected 1,549 airmen for promotion to the rank of senior master sergeant as of April 1, 2018 in the 18E8 promotion cycle, as announced on March 1, 2018.

According to the Air Force, 13,054 airmen were eligible for selection, with 11.87 percent of those being promoted. "The average overall score for those selected was 489.95. Selectees’ average time in grade was 3.92 years and time in service was 18.01 years. The average decorations score was 19.99 and the average United States Air Force Supervisory Exam score was 76.28. The average board score was 393.68," according to a press release.
