CAMBRIDGE — A man was attacked by three men wielding an ax last week when he answered his door.

The victim, said to be in his 20s, answered the door of his apartment about 3:30 a.m. When he opened the door, one of the suspects hit him over the head with what is described as an ax or hatchet, according to a release issued by the Cambridgeshire Constabulary.

The suspects then stole an iPod, cash, cell phone and other possessions from the apartment, the release stated.

The victim was taken to Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge, where he was treated for a fractured skull, according to the release.

Suspects steal prototype TVs, hijack truckHUNTINGDON — Three men hijacked a truck last week in Huntingdon, near Alconbury, making off with more than 75 prototype televisions, with a total value of more than 290,000 pounds, or more than $565,000.

The men burst into the cab of the truck about 2:45 a.m. Wednesday while it was parked at a layby (rest area), just off of the A14, according to a release issued by the Cambridgeshire Constabulary.

The televisions were sample models and the first U.K. shipment of the sets, which are aimed at the caravan and mobile home market.

The suspects threatened the driver, made him lie face down in the cab’s rear and drove along the A14 and onto the M6, the release stated. After the suspects stopped to unload the trailer, the truck driver was released unharmed in Fallows Way, Whiston.
