HANAU, Germany — Two Americans have been sentenced to seven years in prison for robbing the Andrews Federal Credit Union on Wolfgang Casern on Feb. 12.

According to a Frankfurt newspaper, German authorities sentenced the two men — identified by the Hanau military newspaper as Dwayne Boyd and Alex Billingsley — in late November.

Earlier, German police said they believed the pair were former soldiers, but military officials said they worked for the Morale, Welfare and Recreation office in Hanau.

The two men stole $33,000 and 40,000 euros from the bank near Hanau’s main shopping center.

The robbers fled first to the Netherlands.

They were later caught trying to board a flight to the States at Frankfurt airport.
