BAMBERG, Germany -- A Bamberg-based soldier was killed Wednesday in Afghanistan’s Logar province, the Department of Defense announced Friday. Spc. Barun Rai, 24, of Silver Spring, Md., died of injuries sustained in a vehicle rollover, the DOD said in a release. He was assigned to the 54th Engineer Battalion, 18th Engineer Brigade, 21st Theater Sustainment Command.No information was immediately available on memorial service plans.
