Three Navy captains assigned to European active-duty and Reserve commands were recently nominated for promotion to rear admiral.

Capt. David J. Mercer and Capt. Michael O’Bryan and Naval Reserve Capt. William P. Loeffler were recently nominated to receive their first star, although there have been no official dates announced for their promotions.

Mercer is executive assistant to the supreme allied commander Europe, Gen. James Jones, in Mons, Belgium. O’Bryan is chief of staff to the 6th Fleet commander, Vice Adm. Harry Ulrich III in Gaeta, Italy.

Loeffler is commander of the 6th Fleet’s Navy Reserve Detachment 802 in Atlanta.
