KADENA AIR BASE, Okinawa — Three American dependent boys living on Kadena Air Base are being questioned in connection with a stone-throwing incident Thursday that damaged a car on the Okinawa Toll Road.

An Okinawa police spokesman said three sons of servicemembers allegedly threw stones over a base fence bordering the toll road in Okinawa City at 4:40 p.m. Thursday, damaging the windshield of a car driven by a man from Itoman.

The 35-year-old driver told police the rock damaged the left side of his windshield as he was driving north on the highway. He was not injured, the police spokesman said.

Damage to the car was estimated at about $960.

The police spokesman said a passerby spotted the three boys throwing stones at cars on the toll road. Okinawa police sent an inquiry to Air Force military police, who identified three preteen boys as suspects, the police spokesman said.

He said Okinawa police were to question the boys — believed to be about 12 years old — at a police station in Okinawa City on Friday afternoon.

A spokesman for Kadena Air Base said military police are cooperating with the Okinawa police investigation.
