SEOUL — South Korean police say they nabbed a 26-year-old U.S. soldier on suspicion of smashing the windows of a luxury car in an affluent residential neighborhood early Saturday morning.

Seocho Police Station officials would not name the soldier, but said he’s accused of drunkenly smashing the windows of a parked Lexus at about 1 a.m. Saturday.

After an initial round of questioning, the soldier was released to U.S. custody. Police say they’ll continue their investigation.

The U.S. military declines to name soldiers who are under investigation, and will do so only if charges are filed.
