NAPLES, Italy — Soap opera stars and a former NASCAR driver are heading to bases in the Mediterranean.
Three “Days of Our Lives” cast members wanted to spend the holidays with servicemembers.
“There’s definitely no money in it for these folks. They just appreciate what the military is doing for them,” said Biagio Galeota, spokesman for Morale, Welfare and Recreation in Naples.
The actors who will sign autographs and visit troops Monday through Friday are James Reynolds (Abe Carver), Alison Sweeney (Sami Brady) and Matt Cedeno (Brandon Walker).
NASCAR legend Bobby Allison will visit bases Jan. 7 to Jan. 13. The 1983 Winston Cup champion and three-time Daytona 500 winner is tied for third place among all-time NASCAR winners with 84 victories. He was voted NASCAR’s Most Popular Driver six times.

Rota, Spain: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at the NEX Home Center.
Sigonella, Sicily: On Tuesday, they will sign autographs at the commissary and visit ships in port. On Wednesday, the actors will visit with sailors who have to work on Christmas Day and will help serve dinner at 6 p.m. at Take 5.
Naples, Italy: 1-2 p.m. Thursday at the Navy Lodge at the Gricignano Support Site.
Gaeta, Italy: 5-6 p.m. Thursday at the NEX.
La Maddalena, Italy: On Friday, from noon-1 p.m. on the USS Emory Land and 3-5 p.m. at The Rock.

Souda Bay, Greece: Jan. 7.
La Maddalena, Italy: Jan. 8, on the Emory Land and on base.
Naples, Italy: 4:30 p.m. Jan. 9 at Capo Landing at Capodichino.
Gaeta, Italy: Jan. 10 on the USS La Salle and in the base community center.
Sigonella, Sicily: Jan. 12 at Jox sports bar.
Rota, Spain: Jan. 13.
The actors’ visit is sponsored by United Service Organizations and Armed Forces Entertainment. Allison’s tour was arranged by U.S. Naval Forces Europe and the Naval Personnel Command.
