YONGSAN GARRISON, South Korea — Several signal units were recognized Friday for achievements in Army competitions and fund-raising.

Col. Ronald M. Bouchard, the 1st Signal Brigade commander, presented awards to units and individuals. Two companies picked up the U.S. Army’s NETCOM/9th Army Signal Command Commanding General’s Award for Supply Excellence.

The 41st Signal Battalion earned a runner-up award in the active MTOE large category for fiscal 2003. The 552nd Signal Company got a runner-up award in category A, level 1 (B) for fiscal 2004.

Bouchard encouraged the units to push harder. “You’re so close,” he said. “You can be there.”

The 275th Signal Company received the Combined Federal Campaign overseas gold award for fall 2003 for outstanding support and contributions. The CFC is the federal government program that lines up donations to nonprofit charities.

Capt. Timothy Bowers and 1st Sgt. Paul Dattle were presented with certificates of achievement for their efforts in the CFC.

Chief Warrant Officer Michelle R. Smith of the 201st Signal Company received an Impact Army Commendation Medal for being a NETCOM finalist in the Army’s MacArthur Award competition.

In other business, the 362nd Signal Company was awarded a streamer for its guidon for going 180 days without an alcohol-related incident.
