SASEBO NAVAL BASE, Japan — Users of the base’s Web site should find that getting needed information is easier and faster thanks to a new site design that debuted last week.

“Aside from what I think are significant aesthetic improvements, we’ve tried to put more of what the site offers ‘up front’ on the home page,” said Charles T. Howard, base public affairs officer and Web site structure coordinator.

“Numerous two- or three-click accesses are now down to a single click,” he said.

The site is a tool, he added, to help those about to transfer to Sasebo learn about host nation culture, the base community’s environment and the availability of services such as housing and medical care.

The main page provides links to the Naval Pacific Meteorology and Oceanography Sasebo Detachment weather site, said Howard. “We are in an area subject to harsh weather conditions, like typhoons,” he said, so the design makes weather information easily accessible.

The page also features links to the base newspaper in a PDF file format, the base Morale, Welfare and Recreation department’s online presence, and the Interactive Customer Evaluation system.

The Sasebo Naval Base Web site is at www.cfas.navy.mil. Contact the public affairs office at 252-3029 for more information or to share your feedback.
