Post allowance pay for civilian workers increased in Tokyo and Yokosuka on Monday, according to the U.S. State Department.

The rate for Tokyo city increased from 60 to 70 and the rate in Yokosuka rose from 35 to 42.

The change means a federal employee at Yokosuka Naval Base who has a spouse and two children and earns $40,000 per year will get an additional $66 over the next two weeks.

Post allowances are recalculated biweekly and meant to offset the cost of living overseas. To calculate your allowance, go to http://aoprals.state.gov.
