A faulty pipe is being blamed for Outdoor Recreation’s water-logged facility at the Kaiserslautern Military Community Center.

In late October, "a slow drip from a plumbing connection" was discovered in the ground-floor building, causing water to accumulate in the wall and beneath the concrete floor inside the store, according to Col. David Reynolds, U.S. Air Forces in Europe resources directorate.

The pipe has been repaired, but Outdoor Recreation is still mopping up. A temporary system of driers, dehumidifiers and hosing was installed to remove the excess moisture. Once it’s dry, repairs to the flooring and drywall will be necessary, Reynolds said.

In an e-mail, Reynolds said the contractor’s insurance company will pay for the repairs.
