KADENA AIR BASE, Japan — More than 200 airmen will deploy for one month to Nellis Air Force Base, Nev., early Monday morning to participate in the Red Flag training exercise.

Kadena F-15s and KC-135s will take off during early morning hours to allow landings at their destination during daylight hours.

Red Flag is an advanced combat training exercise involving the United States and allied air forces. Forces attack range targets including mock airfields, tanks, convoys, parked aircraft, missile sites and bunkers.

The exercise is administered by the Air Warfare Center and Nellis Air Force Base, through the 414th Combat Training Squadron.

Camp Foster art auction

CAMP FOSTER, Okinawa — The Annual Naval Officers’ Spouses’ Club of Okinawa Art Auction will take place on March 12 at the Butler Officers Club.

Up for auction will be contemporary and traditional Japanese artwork from Kanda’s Art Gallery in Awase, Okinawa City.

The event is open to anyone with SOFA status. Admission is free. The pre-sale is to begin at 5:30 p.m.; the auction, at 7 p.m. The event also will include door prizes and food.

Community service

The U.S. Naval Computer and Telecommunications Station, Guam, will receive recognition from the Guam Legislature for its community service at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Lencho Park.

The Guam Legislature will recognize the station with a resolution, as part of the station’s partnership with its sister village, Dededo.

Guam Legislature Vice Speaker Joanne Brown will conduct the presentation. Station commanding officer Cmdr. Jon Kennedy and others will accept the recognition.

Self-help closures

MISAWA AIR BASE, Japan — The Self-Help Center will be closed Feb. 24 and March 3 in preparation for the upcoming Unit Compliance Inspection, scheduled Feb. 28 to March 4.

The 35th Comptroller Squadron also is reducing customer service hours to get ready for the inspection. New hours, now through March 4, are: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays.

Starting March 7, customer service hours will be 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday to Friday.

Motorcycle safety

MISAWA AIR BASE, Japan — Sign-ups for Misawa’s next Motorcycle Safety Foundation Course begin March 1. To sign up, visit Room 121 of Bldg 507 at 35th Fighter Wing Headquarters from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Those interested in becoming a course instructor should call Tech. Sgt. Abraham Malit at DSN 226-2702.

Black History Month

The Cultural Heritage Club of Yokosuka Middle School is sponsoring a series of performances Thursday in honor of Black History Month.

The program will run from 1:15 to 2:10 p.m. in the school multipurpose room and will include: African Drummers from Tokyo; a featured soloist from the U.S. Naval Hospital; Yokosuka Middle School Choir and Dancers; and an adaptation of Dr. Martin Luther King’s “I Have a Dream” speech.

Winners of the school Oratory Contest will be announced and will perform their pieces.

Students also will present a check for more than $2,000 to the American Red Cross for tsunami victims.

Zama music and dance

A group will perform Japanese Court Music and Dance for students Friday in the Zama American High School auditorium.

The traditional performance will be held during the seminar, from 9:20 to 10:30 a.m. in the school auditorium.
