CAMP FOSTER, Okinawa — Marine Corps Community Services is inviting everyone island-wide to the Oktoberfest this weekend at Camp Foster’s Field House.

Festivities kick off Saturday at 3 p.m. and end at midnight and will go from noon to 10 p.m. Sunday. There will be a wide selection of beer and German food, along with entertainment for the whole family.

Headlining this year’s musical entertainment is Joan Jett and the Blackhearts. Other artists scheduled to perform are country music star Kelly Rae, R&B artist Cherokee, Top 40 band MOG, and adult contemporary singer Maria Howell.

There will also be games, amusement rides, a motorcycle show and a “Kiddie Land” section.

Camp Foster special events coordinator Manny Taitano said this is the first time Oktoberfest has been held in his six-year tenure.

Taitano said he’s hoping that 15,000 to 20,000 people attend the event.

American Airlines and SATO Travel are giving away two round-trip tickets from Okinawa to Las Vegas on Sunday.

And MCCS and Payless Motors have teamed up to give away a “Truckload of Fun.” Twenty-eight lucky contestants will receive keys to win a Toyota Surf truck, but only one key will start the vehicle. If the winner is an active MCCS club member, they will be given the “truckload” portion of the prize package, which includes a wide array of outdoor sporting goods. If the winner of the Surf is not a member, then the sports package will be given away separately.
