CAMP LESTER, Okinawa — After reviewing patient complaints, U.S. Naval Hospital Okinawa ended the bimonthly birth abroad briefing because people needed more individualized attention, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Now those needing information may make an appointment, and they will be given a checklist of needed documents and actions at that time.

Birth registration forms now are available on the Internet at www.oki.med.navy.mil.

Putting the forms on the Internet has reduced the average waiting period for baby passports from six or more weeks to 3-4 weeks, the spokeswoman said.
