CAMP KINSER, Okinawa — The local Defense Reutilization and Marketing Office has canceled its popular weekly sales of surplus items available to holders of Status of Forces Agreement identification cards.

“The decision to cancel the sales was made back in May or June,” Benavides said Friday. “The last cash-and-carry sale was last month.”

Now, the only way to purchase surplus items from the DRMO is to participate in the monthly sealed-bid sale of bulk items, he said.

“We are thinking about maybe offering one or two item sales in the future, but nothing has been decided,” Benavides said.

However, there is still one base outlet where surplus items are available. Marine Corps Community Services features a surplus sale every Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Building T-119 on Camp Foster, just down the road from the commissary and vehicle registration office.
