The Navy is celebrating its 228th birthday Monday and many Pacific bases will toast their heritage this weekend with a Navy Birthday Ball.
The Ball honors the Navy’s past and present, its tradition and esprit de corps.
Here are the major balls planned for the region:
GUAM
Saturday at Hyatt Regency Guam in Tumon. Sold out. The guest speaker is Capt. Robert McNaught, chief of staff, U.S. Naval Forces Marianas.
JAPAN
Atsugi: Friday, 6 p.m. at Club Trilogy. Tickets available at the Club Trilogy Cash Cage.
Misawa: Friday at Tohoku Enlisted Club Main Ballroom. Cost: E-1 to E-4, $10; E-5 and E-6, $15; E-7 and higher, $25.
Sasebo: Nov. 29 at Harbor View Club. Details and prices to be announced.
Yokosuka: Saturday, 6 p.m. to 1 a.m., in The Gym. Tickets are on sale from command representatives. For information, contact Lt. Cmdr. Theresa Thurlow at DSN 243-7311.
Iwakuni: Friday, 6 p.m. at Club Iwakuni. Sold out.
OKINAWA
Saturday, 6 p.m at Butler Officers Club in the Plaza Housing area. Cost: $15 for E-6 and lower, $25 for E-7 to O-3, and $35 for O-4 and higher. For tickets, see command representatives or contact Lt. Craig Bilyeu at DSN 634-7075.
SOUTH KOREA
Seoul Grand Hyatt, Saturday at 6 p.m. The cost is $60 per ticket. The formal event is open to all American servicemembers and civilians in country.
