NAPLES, Italy — Some motorists in Naples will be barred from driving downtown for several hours Wednesday under the city’s anti-smog plan.

The ban runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the city center. Vehicles that are not "eco-friendly" are barred from downtown.

U.S. and NATO military and civilians driving vehicles registered with Allied Forces Italy plates, including those with cover plates, are exempt from the driving ban. However, motorists should be prepared to present vehicle registration forms to local authorities.

The ban does not affect public transportation, including taxis and bus service.
