ARLINGTON, Va. — Starting in January, servicemembers, retirees and annuitants will be among those able to get all their tax information, including their W-2 income statements, online instead of waiting on the U.S. mail.

The Defense Finance and Accounting Service has updated their online myPay service, a secure, online system that helps servicemembers, retirees, annuitants and many Defense Department civilians monitor and control their pay and benefits using the Internet, according to a DFAS press release.

Some DOD workers, such as Non-Appropriated Funds civilians, are not on the myPay system.

New features on the DFAS site will let active duty and reservists view and print their current and previous four years’ W-2 forms; let retirees view and print from the Retiree Account Statement; and let annuitants view and print their Annuitant Account Statement, view and print their 1099R and 1042S tax statements, print a copy of the report of existence and submit the form, print a copy of the certificate of eligibility form and submit the form.

While features vary by individual’s service and status, generally, myPay users can:

• view, print and save leave and earnings statements• view and print tax statements• change federal and state tax withholdings• update bank account and electronic funds transfer information• manage allotments• edit address information• buy U.S. Savings Bonds• control Thrift Savings Plan enrollment (military only)• view and print travel vouchers

The system’s security is safeguarded by requirements that participants use both their Social Security numbers as well as DFAS-assigned personal identification numbers.

To access the information, visit https://mypay.dfas.mil.

Civilians, active-duty Army, Air Force and Marine Corps, reservists, retirees and annuitants who need a PIN can get one in the mail by requesting one on the site.

Active-duty Army and Navy members can request PINs by faxing their names, Social Security numbers, phone numbers, signatures, and copies of government identification cards to DFAS at (216) 522-5800.

Questions about myPay can be directed to the customer support center at (800) 390-2348, Monday through Friday, between 7 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. EST.
