FORT LEE, Va. — The Defense Commissary Agency is accepting nominations for its inaugural American Military Spouse awards through Nov. 9. Four awards will be presented to Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard or veteran spouses who exemplify community, volunteerism, selflessness and strenghth.

Nomination forms also are to be available Nov. 1 at Procter & Gamble product displays in commissaries.

The nomination process includes a requirement for a 500-word essay addressing one or more of the award criteria.

The awards will be presented during a special ceremony Nov. 21 in California. A tape of the ceremony will be broadcast next February during the ninth annual American Veteran Awards program on the History Channel and at a later date on American Forces Network.
