A prisoner died Thursday after allegedly being assaulted by others confined at Camp Bucca in southern Iraq, according to U.S. military officials.
The detainee was pronounced dead at 1:01 a.m. by an attending physician at the base’s medical facility.
The incident is under investigation.
The family will receive the remains after the investigation is done, officials say.
The death comes just a few days after another Iraqi prisoner died, also after reportedly being assaulted by other detainees, in Camp Cropper in Baghdad.
That prisoner was pronounced dead around 1 a.m. on July 7.
