A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the base chapel on Caserma Ederle in Vicenza, Italy, for a soldier killed Sunday in Afghanistan.

Pfc. Juan S. Restrepo, 20, from Pines, Fla., was assigned to Company B, 2nd Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment. He is the fifth soldier from the 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team killed in the country since it deployed earlier this summer.

Restrepo died of injuries he sustained when his dismounted patrol came under small-arms fire in the Korengal Valley, according to a news release from the Southern European Task Force (Airborne).
