VICENZA, Italy — Maj. Gen. David R. Hogg, deputy commander for the Combined Security Transition Command in Afghanistan, has been selected to lead U.S. Army Africa/Southern European Task Force, according to a Defense Department news release.
The move, which would likely take place this summer, is contingent on Senate approval.
Maj. Gen. William Garrett is the current commander of the unit, headquartered in Vicenza. His future posting has not been announced.
Hogg’s two assignments before Afghanistan were in Germany as commander of the Joint Multinational Training Command and as an assistant commander of the 1st Armored Division.
