DAENNER KASERNE, Germany — Brig. Gen. Frederick R. Maiocco Jr. took command of the 7th Mission Support Command from outgoing commander Brig. Gen. Steven Ainsworth on Friday.
Maiocco told soldiers and dignitaries during a ceremony in Kaiserslautern that he was “deeply humbled” to serve as 7th MSC’s new commanding officer.
“The Seventh Mission Support Command is an extraordinary unit, as you have just heard, with a critical mission for the Army,” Maiocco said. “I look forward to working with all of our partners to serve our solders here with excellence and with integrity in all that we do.”
Maiocco reports to the 7th MSC from the 85th Support Command in Arlington Heights, Ill. He had been there since 2014, commanding more than 4,000 troops across the United States.
Ainsworth, now a selectee for major general, assumed command of the 7th MSC and its roughly 1,000 soldiers about a year ago. He is slated to take command of the Army Reserve’s 377th Theater Sustainment Command in Belle Chasse, La.
The 7th MSC, the Army Reserve’s only forward-stationed command in Europe, participated in numerous deployments with NATO allies during Ainsworth’s tenure, including exercises focused on disaster response and combined arms combat.
