RAF MILDENHALL, England — Savannah Czapiewski, a sophomore at Lakenheath High School, will spend two weeks this summer at the Global Young Leaders Conference in Austria, Hungary and the Czech Republic.

She will join 350 young scholars from around the world to meet key leaders and newsmakers. The participants were chosen for their scholastic achievement and demonstration of leadership qualities.

The conference is July 2-14 in Vienna, Budapest and Prague. It will end with a global summit in which participants will use what they have learned to debate and discuss issues such as foreign aid, global warming, and the fight against terrorism.

Savannah is the daughter of Lt. Col. Meg Czapiewski, commander of the 488th Intelligence Squadron at RAF Mildenhall and Lt. Col. Michael Czapiewski of the 352nd Special Operations Squadron, also at Mildenhall.

The Global Young Leaders Conference is a non-profit, nonpartisan education organization founded in 1985 to foster leadership qualities among young people.
