Bill Diesselhorst, principal at Lakenheath High School, RAF Lakenheath, England, has been named assistant superintendent of the Georgia/Alabama District of Department of Defense schools in the United States.

The announcement was made last week by Elaine B. Hinman, director of DOD Domestic Dependent Elementary and Secondary Schools.

“Bill will be a definite asset to DDESS as he brings a wealth of knowledge and years of experience,” Hinman said.

Diesselhorst, a native of Fairfax, Va., has been with the Department of Defense Dependents Schools for 33 years, including 18 in the Pacific region and 15 in Europe.

Before coming to England, he was principal at the high schools in Baumholder and Ramstein, both in Germany.

Diesselhorst said he was excited about the opportunity to move back to America to work with DDESS.

“It’s a chance to move up to the next level within [DOD Education Activity],” he said.

He and his wife, Deborah, have three children, all graduates of DODEA schools.

A replacement for Diesselhorst in England has not been named.
