RAF MILDENHALL, England — A student at Lakenheath High School, RAF Lakenheath, England, and a teacher at London Central High School, England, will participate at the Research Science Institute sponsored by the Center for Excellence in Education, according to a news release.

The institute will be held from June 26 to Aug. 6 at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Kallie Hedberg, a junior at Lakenheath, and Paul Stanley, a math teacher at LCHS, will join other students and teachers, including some from the Department of Defense Education Activity.

Other DODEA students selected are Isabel Chang, a junior at Seoul American High School in South Korea, and Eric Maldonado, a junior at DODEA High School in the Antilles.

Other teachers selected are Steven Hundley, a science teacher at Ramey School in Aquadilla, Puerto Rico, and Tynisa Young, a science teacher from the E.J. King High School in Sasebo, Japan.

Selection criteria to one of the most prestigious competitive science programs for high school students in the nation includes grades, Scholastic Aptitude Test scores, teacher recommendations and participation in science competitions and community service, the release said.

The Center for Excellence in Education nurtures careers of excellence and readership in science and technology for academically talented high school students and furthers international understanding among future leaders of the world.
