WüRZBURG, Germany — The Kitzingen military community in Germany on Friday will hold the first in a series of community celebrations to mark the return of 1st Infantry Division soldiers this spring from a yearlong deployment to Iraq, according to a news release from the Kitzingen-based 417th Base Support Battalion.

Pop music star Richard Marx will headline a list of performers that includes The Vandals, Dusty Brothers, Shakesbeers, The Donny Vox band, Push and comedian Alex Reymundo. They will play in a three-stage tent that seats 10,000 people at Kitzingen’s Harvey Barracks.

The festivities will begin at 2 p.m. with a ceremony in which both American and German community leaders will welcome the troops home.

The music will begin an hour later, along with a celebration that includes carnival rides, magicians, food and drinks. There will also be a fireworks display at 9:30 p.m. Food, drinks and entertainment all are free. The event is open to all U.S. ID-card and installation-pass holders.
