An Iraqi prisoner at a U.S. military detention facility in Iraq has died after allegedly being assaulted by other prisoners, the U.S. military said Tuesday.
The unnamed man, whose age was not released, was pronounced dead around 2 a.m. on July 7 by a military doctor at Camp Cropper’s medical facility.
The incident is being investigated. It is the second time in recent weeks that a prisoner has allegedly been killed by other prisoners. The other incident took place at Camp Bucca, in southern Iraq, last month.
The prisoner’s remains will be given to his family after an autopsy, officials said.
