The House of Representatives has approved a measure that would block funding to train military chaplains to perform same sex unions, according to the Associated Press.

U.S. Rep. Tim Huelskamp, R-Kan., sponsored the amendment because he wanted to ensure that "America's military bases are not used to advance a narrow social agenda," the Associated Press reported.

Passed by a 236-184 vote, the measure was attached to the House version of the defense spending bill, which still must be reconciled with the Senate's version.
