Stephen M. Grant Jr., 18, and a senior at Heidelberg High School in Germany, has earned the Eagle Scout award, the Boy Scouts’ highest honor.

Stephen, the son of Chief Warrant Officer 4 Steve and Beth Grant, completed requirements in July, however the presentation ceremony was delayed until Jan. 30, after his father returned from a deployment to Iraq.

For his Eagle award project, he constructed a sidewalk that ran more than 400 feet along the rear of the Roadside Theater in Heidelberg.

The walk allows for easier movement of equipment, stage props and actors from work and dressing areas to the theater stage.

He organized receipt of equipment, materials and the scheduling of more than 100 community volunteers over several months to complete the project. The award ceremony was conducted at the theater.

Stephen has been involved in Scouting for 12 years and is a member of Troop #1, Trans-Atlantic Council.

He currently is applying to colleges, and plans to study computer engineering.
