HEIDELBERG, Germany – Alumni of Heidelberg High School are expected to attend next week what will likely be the last reunion before the Army vacates the city in 2015.

The reunion, scheduled from Tuesday to Friday, will mark the 65th anniversary of the high school with a picnic, Neckar River boat cruise, and dinner and dancing, according to the alumni association website. The gathering is open to all former students, and more than 200 alumni are currently registered to attend, according to the website.

Attendees will be checking in from 2-7 p.m. on Tuesday at the high school gym. A picnic is planned from noon to about 4 p.m. on Wednesday at Patrick Henry Village.

U.S. Army Europe and other military entities in Heidelberg and nearby Mannheim are closing over the next few years as the Defense Department continues restructuring its forces in Europe. USAREUR headquarters, for example, is relocating to Wiesbaden.
