SEOUL — Two South Korea-based U.S. general officers have been tapped for stateside assignments, according to Defense Department news releases.

Army Brig. Gen. Harvey T. Landwermeyer Jr., 2nd Infantry Division Assistant Commander (Support), and Air Force Brig. Gen. Joseph Reynes Jr., 51st Fighter Wing commander, both will move to the East Coast.

Landwermeyer will take the position of director of operations in the office of the assistant chief of staff for Installation Management in Washington, D.C.

Reynes will serve as the inspector general for Headquarters Air Combat Command at Langley Air Force Base, Va.

Prior to his 2nd ID position, Landwermeyer served as commander of the Installation Management Agency Korea Region Office, with oversight of dozens of Army installations across the Korean peninsula.

He graduated from the United States Military Academy in 1976 and is a graduate of the Armor Officer Basic and Advanced Courses; U.S. Army Command and General Staff College; and the Naval War College.

Brig. Gen. Joe E. Ramirez Jr., deputy commanding general of the Combined Arms Center for Training, U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command at Fort Leavenworth, Kan., is to replace Landwermeyer in 2nd ID.
