The price of gas sold at Army and Air Force Exchange Service stores will rise about three cents Saturday across much of Europe.

It is the eighth straight week gas prices have climbed.

Prices in the U.S. have risen steadily since the end of January, and AAFES’ prices — which are based on averages complied by the U.S. Department of Energy — have risen right along with them.

First thing Saturday, regular gas will go up 3.3 cents a gallon, mid-grade will go up 2.8 cents and premium will go up 3 cents, according to an AAFES news release. Diesel will go down one-half cent.

AAFES’ gas prices hit their lowest mark in a year and a half Feb. 1, but since that time regular gas has gone up 44.5 cents a gallon.

In Germany, a gallon of AAFES’ regular gas will go up Saturday to a fraction more than $2.77 a gallon. A gallon of super-unleaded in the United Kingdom will cost a little more than $2.83, while that same gallon will cost about $2.98 in the Netherlands.

Prices in the Netherlands for all grades of fuel including diesel were set at the “floor” selling prices, in which AAFES sells fuel at the price it pays for the fuel plus its distribution costs.
