The 31st Fighter Wing will have a new commander in a few months.
Brig. Gen. Robert Yates will give way to Col. Craig A. Franklin in a ceremony sometime in May.
Yates, who took command of the Aviano, Italy-based wing in June 2005, will move to Belgium and become deputy U.S. military representative to NATO, according to a news release issued by the Department of Defense.
Franklin, selected to receive his first star, is executive assistant to the vice chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff at the Pentagon.
