The ceremony to mark the handover of Anbar provincial control to the Iraqi government has been delayed, U.S. officials said Friday.

Originally slated for Saturday, the ceremony "has been delayed due to forecasts of high winds and dust storms" in Anbar, U.S. military officials said.

Second GI killed in Iraq ambush identified

The Pentagon has identified the second of two Baumholder, Germany-based soldiers killed in an ambush after attending a council meeting south of Baghdad this week.

Pfc. Bryan M. Thomas, 22, of Lake Charles, La., died June 23 from wounds suffered in the attack. Thomas was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 6th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team.

Capt. Gregory T. Dalessio, 30, of Cherry Hill, N.J., also was killed in the attack. His name had been released Thursday by the Pentagon. Three other soldiers were wounded in the incident, battalion officials have said.
