KAISERSLAUTERN, Germany — An Air Force officer and her passenger suffered minor injuries in an accident Friday that left a German in another vehicle dead, an Air Force spokeswoman said.

The accident happened at about 10:30 p.m. in the northbound lane of Autobahn 6 near Glan Munchweiler, Germany, according to 1st Lt. Jenny Lovett, an 86th Airlift Wing spokeswoman.

Capt. Nikki Rucker, who is assigned to the 24th Intelligence Squadron at Ramstein Air Base, was the driver of the vehicle. Rucker was taken to Landstuhl Regional Medical Center with minor injures. A passenger in Rucker’s car, whose name was not released, was taken to a German hospital in Homburg with minor injuries.

The 569th Security Forces Squadron responded to the accident after receiving a call from the German police. Lovett did not know if there was another passenger in the German’s car. She said the investigation is continuing.

Kinderfest set for April 2

SCHWEINFURT, Germany — To kick off April as “The Month of the Military Child,” the 280th Base Support Battalion’s Child and Youth Services program is planning to hold a “Kinderfest” April 2 at the Askren Manor housing area in Schweinfurt.

Weather permitting, the festival will include a parade, with units from the Ebenhausen marching band, the local fire department and Boy and Girl Scouts, according to a news release from the 280th BSB. Several community agencies serving children also will set up booths and activities geared towards youngsters from pre-school through high school.

Rota sailor sentenced in stabbing

A Rota, Spain-based sailor Thursday was sentenced to 89 days confinement and a reduction in rank for her role in the nonfatal stabbing of a Spanish woman last winter, Rota Naval Base officials said.

Petty Officer 2nd Class Kacy Guebert, an information systems technician at Rota’s Computer and Telecommunications Area Master Station, was convicted at a general court-martial of assault and carrying a concealed weapon, according to a release from base spokeswoman Lt. Allie Freeman. Guebert and another sailor had been charged with a variety of crimes related to the stabbing at Rota’s La Mecca nightclub in February 2004.

The second sailor was sentenced to six months of confinement, fines and a rank reduction for disposing of the knife used in the attack and lying to investigators, according to reports from Freeman.

Guebert was found not guilty of additional charges of aggravated assault and conspiracy in last week’s court-martial, Freeman’s release reads.
