MISAWA AIR BASE, Japan — Military commissary shoppers worldwide are being asked to return recalled Tornados ranchero beef and cheese tortilla rolls because of potential salmonella contamination, according to the Defense Commissary Agency.

The items were recalled by Ruiz Foods Inc. on March 9, but commissary officials didn’t think the recalled products were in inventory, according to a DECA news release Tuesday. However, 50 cases of the product had been sent to commissaries, prompting the late notification to commissary shoppers.

The recalled products are Tornados ranchero beef and cheese tortilla rolls, three-count, UPC: 071007865442. The carton packaging has Est. 17523A and code numbers 09357, 10023, 10028, 10030, 10031, or 10032 printed on the side panel.

Salmonella infections can be life threatening for those with weak immune systems.

The recalled products can be returned to the commissary for a full refund.
