Military parents can now access online report cards detailing the performance and accountability of their children’s schools.

The Department of Defense Education Activity — which runs 191 schools with more than 84,000 students on military bases around the world — announced this week that it has posted "School Report Cards" on its Web site.

The report cards list "school contact information, school improvement goals, a school’s student demographic profile, and academic indicators such as the SAT and TerraNova scores," according to a DODEA news release.

"These school report cards will allow for parents to visually see how each school is faring so that they can work with schools to address their child’s educational needs," DODEA director Shirley Miles said in the release.

Miles said the report cards will help "show our commitment to being more transparent and communicative."

According to the release, DODEA plans to add more data, including graduation and attendance rates.

The report cards can be found at https://webapps.dodea.edu/SRC/ .
