All students attending Department of Defense Dependents Schools in the Pacific are required to register for the 2007-2008 school year before the current school year ends. This process enables the district to project student enrollment for the next school year and maintain current student information, according to DODDS.

On Okinawa, school and bus registration will be conducted during school break at two locations — the cafeterias at Kadena High School and Lester Middle School — April 10-13 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Students who attend Lester Middle School, Kubasaki High School, or E.C. Killin, Bechtel, Kinser and Zukeran elementary schools must register at Lester Middle School. All other students must register at Kadena High School. Parents also can opt to register their children at their home school after spring break.

The Okinawa Student Transportation Office will have a station at each location to process bus registration for next school year. Parents must first register their children for school and then obtain a copy of the student registration form in order to sign up for a bus.

Also, students registering for a bus must be present in order to have their pictures taken for a bus pass, according to DODDS. To apply for free or reduced lunches parents must present a current copy of their leave and earnings statement.

At all DODDS-Pacific locations, sponsors must revalidate the family’s current information including current quarters address, home and work telephone numbers and emergency contacts. If the family has moved since the last registration, the sponsor must provide a current on-base housing assignment letter or an off-base lease with a map.

Active-duty sponsors must bring a copy of their extension orders if their orders will expire before Aug. 27. Civilian sponsors must bring current certificate of employment letter to verify full-time employment or new travel orders.
