A longtime DODDS teacher died Wednesday of cancer.

William G. Rimel Jr., 62, taught world regions, humanities and principles of engineering at General H.H. Arnold High School in Wiesbaden, Germany, since 2003. Before teaching at the high school, Rimel taught technology education at Wiesbaden Middle School.

He had taught at Department of Defense Dependents Schools since 1977, including positions in Japan, South Korea and Bahrain as well as the United States.

He is survived by his wife Sharon, son Drew and daughter Suzanne Biberston.

The family is planning a “Celebration of Life” memorial service Saturday in Lincoln, Mo.
