A recent “security enhancement” requiring myPay users to change their user names and passwords has left some baffled, including Army Vice Chief of Staff Gen. Peter Chiarelli.

“The vice was telling me the other day, he tried to change his password, and he didn’t quite do it, I think, after about 20 minutes of work. And then at the end, there was a little thing that said, ‘Click on this to let us know how you thought the process went,’” Army Chief of Staff Gen. George Casey said on Thursday.

To help users through the process, the Defense Finance and Accounting Service has posted a video showing how to update your account for those who log in using their social security number and password at:

Those who have already created a login ID can go to:

Users can also call the Centralized Customer Support Unit at 1-888-DFAS411 (1-888-332-7411), commercial at (216) 522-5096 or Defense Switching Network (DSN) at 580-5096. Phones are staffed between 7 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. (Eastern), according to DFAS.
