CAMP FOSTER, Okinawa — Applications will be accepted Nov. 3 through Feb. 18, 2004, for scholarships of $1,500 and more for military children, the Defense Commissary Agency has announced.

The agency’s 2004 Scholarships for Military Children program is for children of active duty, retired, Guard and reservist servicemembers.

The scholarships are limited to students younger than 21, or 23 if attending college full-time.

Scholarship amounts may increase depending on available funds, the agency said. Information and the application are posted on the Web site, www.militaryscholar.org.

Applications also are available at any commissary.

Applications must be turned in to local commissaries; e-mailed applications will not be accepted, the agency said.

Anyone interested in donating to the scholarship fund can find related information on the Web site.

The program, administered by Fisher House Foundation, is funded by vendors and manufacturers who sell their goods and services in military commissaries.
