A June 6 story about a former Defense Department civilian employee who was sentenced to a one-year prison term should have said Steven Merkes pleaded guilty to accepting illegal gratuities. Merkes’ acts did not lead to the awarding of a contract to the payer of the illegal gratuities, Phillip Bloom.
