WASHINGTON -- The commander of Marine Corps Base Hawaii has been relieved of duty "due to a lack of confidence," according to U.S. Marine Corps Forces, Pacific.

Col. Jeffrey Woods was replaced Wednesday by Maj. Gen. Peter J. Talleri, according to a brief Marine Corps news release, which did not say why Woods was relieved of duty.

Woods has been replaced by interim commander LT. Col. Michael P. Antonio.
