A series of handovers of commands across Aviano Air Base in Italy began this week and continues into July.

Col. Charles Webb III took command of the 31st Maintenance Group on Tuesday, replacing Col. Elisabeth Strines. Strines is heading to a position at Ramstein Air Base, Germany, where Webb just completed his last assignment.

Lt. Col. Adrian Pone is the new commander of the 510th Fighter Squadron after a Tuesday ceremony. Pone, who recently served in the wing’s safety department, replaces Lt. Col. John Walker, who is heading to Yokota Air Base in Japan.

Lt. Col. David Lynch took command of the 31st Security Forces Squadron on Wednesday from Lt. Col. Patrick Vetter. Vetter has already begun his next assignment in Kabul, Afghanistan. Lynch’s last assignment was at Langley Air Force Base, Va.

Lt. Col. Troy Jackson takes command of the 603rd Air Control Squadron on June 13 from Lt. Col. Jennifer Spears. Jackson comes from Tinker Air Force Base, Okla., while Spears is heading to Ramstein.

Lt. Col. Billie Early assumes command of the 31st Communications Squadron on June 20 from Col. John Jordan. Jordan is heading to Hickham Air Force Base, Hawaii. Early is currently stationed at Peterson Air Force Base, Colo.

Maj. Matthew Sanford takes command of the 31st Aircraft Maintenance Squadron on June 30 from Lt. Col. Patrick Kumashiro. Sanford has been attending General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, Kan. Kumashiro is headed to Air Force headquarters at the Pentagon.

Lt. Col. Thomas Daack will assume command of the 31st Logistics Readiness Squadron on July 6 from Lt. Col. Thomas Sadlo. Daack is coming from Air Command and Staff College at Maxwell Air Force Base, Ala. Sadlo is headed for a job in the Pentagon.

Lt. Col. Clay Hall takes over command of the 555th Fighter Squadron on July 7 from Lt. Col. Charles Moore. Hall is currently a member of the 510th Fighter Squadron at Aviano. Moore is heading to Hanscom Air Force Base, Mass.

Maj. Greg Brown takes over the 31st Mission Support Squadron on July 10 from Lt. Col. Darrell Raynor. Brown is currently stationed at Maxwell Air Base. Raynor is heading to Scott Air Force Base, Ill.

Lt. Col. Elizabeth Brown is taking over command of the 31st Civil Engineer Squadron on July 11 from Lt. Col. Joseph Castro. Brown is currently serving at the Pentagon. Castro is heading to Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio.

Lt. Col. Nathan Lyden assumes command of the 31st Maintenance Squadron on July 20 from Lt. Col. Douglas Plymale. Lyden is currently assigned to Tyndall Air Force Base, Fla. Plymale is retiring.
