The commander of Canadian forces in Kandahar province says the arrival of U.S. reinforcements in Afghanistan will have a "dramatic effect" on the war.
Brig. Gen. Jon Vance made the comments at a news conference Thursday in Ontario, where he was attending a conference of Canadian government and military officials discussing the war.
The extra U.S. troops will be sent to Kandahar and Helmand provinces, Vance said.
"That will have a dramatic effect on the insurgency’s capacity to move across the border easily and will have a complementary effect, therefore, on our own operations," Vance said, according to wire service reports.
