RAF MILDENHALL, England — A British citizen who worked nearly three decades at RAF Mildenhall was recently awarded the Imperial Service Medal during a ceremony.

Kenneth Palmer, who spent 27 years working for the 727th Air Mobility Squadron, was given the medal by Squadron Leader James Savage, the station commander, according to information from the 100th Air Refueling Wing public affairs office.

Palmer, who retired in May 2004, performed a number of duties for the squadron over the years.

The Imperial Service Medal was created in 1902 by King Edward VII to recognize faithful and meritorious service by members of the civil services.
