Two 2nd ID soldiers questioned in assaultUijeongbu police said they have questioned two 2nd Infantry Division soldiers in connection with the alleged assault of a South Korean man and woman last weekend.

Police said a 19-year-old private and another unidentified soldier are accused of punching a 24-year-old South Korean man in the face Saturday at 11:10 p.m.

The soldier believed the man was staring at him at a bus stop, according to police.

The man’s girlfriend tried to stop the fight and was pushed to the ground, police said.

Police alleged the two soldiers, who will be questioned again next week, were drunk.

A 2nd ID spokeswoman confirmed that South Korean police were investigating the incident, but she could provide no further details.
