A field artillery soldier in Iraq has been sentenced to five years in prison, reduction in rank to E-1 and a dishonorable discharge after pleading guilty to charges of possessing child pornography, U.S. military officials said Monday.

Spc. Paul H. Strathmann II, of the 2nd Battalion, 150th Field Artillery, pleaded guilty Saturday to the charges, according to a news release issued by the U.S. command in Baghdad.

Strathmann admitted downloading and viewing photos and videos that included child pornography while he was assigned to Forward Operating Base Diamondback, the release read. Strathmann downloaded 10 still pictures and 15 digital video movies to his personal laptop between June and November 2006.

The court-martial took place at Camp Victory.
